Halloween Monster Cookies are such an easy way to add a little fun to your Halloween baking! And because I couldn’t decide which version I liked better, I’m giving you TWO – a Peanut Butter Monster Cookie loaded with chocolate chips, candy corn and peanuts, and a rich Dark Chocolate Monster Cookie packed with candy corn, and crunchy peanuts.
My taste testers were split right down the middle on which cookie was their favorite. I can’t really blame them – they’re both pretty delicious!
Halloween Monster Cookies – The Halloween Trail Mix That Started It All
For years I’ve been making a simple Halloween Trail Mix with equal parts peanuts, candy corn and m&ms. I put it out every year in my glass pumpkin jar and my kids and I have always loved it.
And here’s the funny part: take one candy corn, two peanuts and three m&ms and pop them into your mouth at the same time. I swear it tastes like you just took a bite of a Snickers Bar!
One day my good friend Patty said, “you should turn that into a cookie.”
YES! Yes I should.
I experimented with several versions trying to get the exact trail-mix flavor into a cookie. I never quite recreated it the way I imagined, but something even better happened – I ended up with TWO really good Halloween cookies. Of course they needed to look a little more Halloween-ish. The solution? Candy Eyes!! It’s amazing how adding a couple of little candy eyes instantly turns an ordinary cookie into a monster. The rest of the face just appears out of no where!
Two Halloween Monster Cookies – Which One Will You Choose?
The first is a soft Peanut Butter Monster Cookie filled with chocolate chips, candy corn and peanuts. The second is a rich Dark Chocolate Monster Cookie with candy corn and peanuts, plus a little espresso powder to deepen that chocolate flavor.
Make one or make them both and let your own taste testers decide which monster wins!
