Who remembers Tastykake Kandy Cake? This was by far my favorite Tastykake treat as a kid. This is what would happen if a Reese’s Cup and a cake had a baby. Years ago my sister-in-law Barb shared a copycat recipe for this delightful peanut buttery chocolaty cakey treat. I’m going to share it with you today because I have declared a theme for this week. Welcome to copycat week!
I grew up in a house right across the street from a grocery store called the Giant Supermarket. Which was a good thing since my Mom did not get her drivers license until she was in her 40s. We would walk over to the Giant every other day and carry home a day or two’s worth of groceries.
I’d beg my mom to buy me the Kandy Cake two pack right there at the checkout every time. Now my Mom loved a candy bar herself from the checkout line so I know she only said yes on the days she really wanted a treat too. I would be in heaven on the days she felt like she had to say yes. I mean I would savor those two little cakes and make them last a full 15 minutes. A FULL FIFTEEN MINUTES!! It’s hard to show that kind of restraint when you are a kid.
It’s an easy TastyKake to copy.
Turns out this is a pretty simple cake that’s easy to copy. The white cake is a little dense so we are going to ask a little more of our eggs and baking powder here. Then we are adding peanut butter and milk chocolate. I’m clearly keeping my promise to keep the recipes simple on this site. Let’s go…
Gather your TastyKake Kandy Cake ingredients.
A simple ingredient list of eggs, sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla. Again all ingredients you should have on hand.
