I grew up the youngest of nine kids, 4 girls and 5 boys. I imagine to all of them I was just an annoying baby sister, who they perceived always got her way. The truth is our amazing Mom just LOVED babies. She made each of us feel completely loved and cared for. I learned so much from growing up in her care. My education continued from watching my sisters become mothers. All I ever wanted to be was a Mom.
Our family grew quickly as my siblings found their spouses. I was very lucky to marry the man I did, who by the way is the baby of eight so he could totally relate to the dynamics that go along with a crazy household. His was just as busy as ours. Their family also grew as his siblings raised their own families. Today we have 51 nieces and nephews and 57 great nieces and nephews in this giant family of ours! Collectively our parents have 108 grandchildren and great grandchildren. A legacy to be proud of for sure. I know we are proud to have contributed to it.
Joe and I have raised four of our own kids. In the beginning and for brief periods of time throughout I worked outside of our home but mostly I was a stay-at-home Mom. If you asked me what I did for a living I would say “I’m a Mom”. Our kids range in age from thirty two to twenty now and while they still need me, my day-to-day job is kind of done. Now when people ask me what I do I say “I’m retired”. When they ask me from what I say “I raised a family” (thank you Carolyn for giving me the perfect words to answer that question). I’m not really sure who I am without my day to day job now. I thought maybe starting this blog would give me a platform to explore and find out!
So I hope you follow along as I share my ideas for sweet treats and hopefully entertain you with some stories that will have you saying “no way that’s true”. I also hope I find “my NEXT purpose” along the way!
